COTÓGRAPHIX is a Spain-based print on demand apparel store that accepts submissions for artists. They have an English option on their website, but a lot of it seems to have been machine-translated and I may be misunderstanding some aspects of their site.
This idea is the basis of COTÓGRAPHIX, a website with the functions of a shop to purchase Portable Art, a meeting point for art fans and a window display for both well-known and anonymous talented artists, which offers the opportunity to show their work to the world.
COTÓGRAPHIX T-Shirt Review
COTÓGRAPHIX sent out two t-shirts a while ago and they have been sitting on my desk for a couple of weeks. I am very impressed with the designs as well as the quality of both shirts. The first t-shirt I am going to talk about is Rock Energy by and artist called LUIS NCT. It’s a slightly abstract image a guitarist doing his thing. The artwork seems to combine a few styles. Sometimes it looks like it was created with a Sharpie and other times like it was a from a woodblock print. The core design looks like it jumped straight out of a comic book. It’s a little hard to understand what’s going on around the head but despite that, I love the design.
The print is very soft and the detail impeccable. The t-shirt itself is black and 100% cotton. Made in Bangladesh. There is a printed neck tag with the logo, size, and care instructions. There is a second small sew-on tag at the bottom of the shirt. It’s a medium and fits well. I’ll be wearing this one.
The second shirt was a ladies SS. It’s called the DOBLEXPO_GARNU and was created by artist, Elena Garnu. The design is two girls, or one girl in two different poses that looks like it was created with pencil and then watercolor. I think it’s beautiful, but my wife thinks it’s a bit creepy so she won’t be wearing it.
The t-shirt is a Stella Invents Slub Organic Deep Round Neck Raw Edged Collar and Rolled Up Sleeve T-shirt. That’s quite a name, but it was such an accurate description I thought I could just use it. For an SS, it is quite loose but it’s the intended style and while it doesn’t look particularly flattering in that photo, it is a nice shirt. It’s creme colored and has the same tags as the first shirt.
Packaging
I can’t remember what the actual mailer looked like so I guess it was fairly standard, but the t-shirts came individually in these sealed tubs. While for me, the packaging has no value I do think they would make very nice presents. People love unwrapping presents.
Branding and Extras
There were quite a few extras on top of the professional packing. Speaking of on top of the packaging, there is a sticker with the logo and some details about the shirt as well as the artist’s name. Inside the box, there was a card with some details about the artist, a nice business card with the COTÓGRAPHIX URL and QR code, a badge/button and a candy.
There was also a postcard with some information about COTÓGRAPHIX in Spanish.
The branding on the shirt is limited to the inside printed tag and the sew-on tag at the bottom of the shirt. Subtle but noticeable. That’s the way branding should be on a graphic t-shirt. There is also a removable hang tag.
Website
COTÓGRAPHIX has a nice clean and easy to navigate bilingual website. The two languages are Spanish and English, although the English needs a bit of work. It’s well-designed website and I love their use of white space, but there is something old-fashioned about it. And it’s not responsive and loaded slowly for me. They have a pretty good selection of designs that they sell on hoodies and tote bags as well as t-shirts. Depending on the design you are able to select the color of the t-shirts
Pricing
The men’s shirt above was €21.90 which is about US$25 at the current exchange rate and the ladies was €27.90 which is just over US$30. I think they are pretty fair prices for the t-shirts themselves but when you throw in the extras they seem cheap.
Wrap-Up
While my wife found the design on the ladies t-shirt a bit creepy we both agreed that the artist was talented and the mens t-shirt got two thumbs up. The t-shirts were nice and the print quality was excellent. The website could be modernized a bit.
I discovered your website (sorry) and I am pleasantly surprised of the quality of your reviews. You provide information and inspiration at a time. Thank you !
Personally I like the idea of packaging.
Thanks!
That’s some really cool designs. Love seeing a more artistic approach to t-shirts 🙂
