Shirtfrom sent a few t-shirts over from the Netherlands a couple of weeks ago but while I am only getting around to reviewing them now, they have both already been worn. That says something in itself as I keep very few of the t-shirts that are sent my way.
The guys from Shirtfrom told me to pick out a few tees so that increased the chances that I would like them but I didn’t really expect much from them because I found their product images to be quite wishy-washy. Which is a pity really as they clearly have someone who knows how to use a camera. (See photo above.)
I selected the New York Frame Frenzy tee for myself, despite never having been to New York and the Rome Vespa t-shirt for my wife. We actually visited there last year.
The design is intricate yet comes across as simple. It’s a one color print of tall buildings where the tops of said buildings spell out New York. It’s a New York souvenir t-shirt but it doesn’t look like one. As you can see, the tee is a dark blue, nearly navy but they don’t seem to be stocking that color at the moment. What you can’t see though is how soft it is. It is very soft and very comfortable.
It’s a medium and a little loose. I am curious to see how well it holds up to a few washes though. I will find out soon though as I will be wearing the hell out of this one.
I actually picked out this one for my wife instead of letting her choose because I thought that it would remind her of our trip to Rome last year. We had a lot of fun and it’s a cool way to be reminded of the fact. Shirtfrom should be pleased about the reason because it says on their website that they wanted to produce better souvenir tees.
…the cities that all of us just love to visit and explore are full of beauty, but the regular one-stop souvenir shop is not. You have seen these shirts as well…they have funny sentences on them like “Good guys go to heaven, bad guys go to spain!”. That made us think to ourselves, we are young, we love to travel, but where can you buy a nice piece that reminds you of your amazing memories? So, of course we started to ask around and almost everyone we asked thought it would be nice to have a shop that sells high quality, well designed shirts from their favorite city. An idea was born!
The tee is the same color and softness as the New York tee but the design is less subtle.
A lot of brands throw in a few stickers or business cards with their tees. I’m not really sure what they expect me to do with them. But basically what usually happens is that they are treated as scrap paper. I’ve been using the stickers and postcards from one shirt store to write my daily to-do lists on. They were crap though.
Shirtfrom doesn’t do crap apparently. They sent this very cool travel journal (buy two tees and you get one free or you can buy them for €6.99 each). The travel journal is fun and high quality and totally worth the €6.99 in my opinion.
They also sent this thing with an alligator clip that took me a while to figure out but apparently people use it to leave notes or to display photos. Simple but cool and usable. Along with the care instructions, there were two awesome postcards, one of which leaves you space to write your own quote on the picture side. What a great idea!
To wrap up, I will say that I love this company’s product. They have some awesome talent and I hope they do well. I think they might so better if they employed some of their creativity to their website though as it is a little dull and doesn’t showcase the tees as much as they should.
