Awesome Sports Logos is a t-shirt brand that have created their own sports logos for imaginary sports teams. They think, and rightly so, that the names used by teams nowadays are bland and uninteresting. So they decided to create their own. It’s a pity real teams didn’t have such fun logos.
The t-shirt they sent me is called the Cocksville Blockers. Fun right! Although I’m not sure I want to wear it in public as people might actually think that I am a cockblocker.
The tee is a wine color and has a great image of this angry-looking cock (of the feathered kind). The print is reasonably soft considering it is vivid on a dark tee. The tee itself is a goof quality Alternative Apparel. It’s a large. I usually wear a medium. That’s why it looks loose.
It comes with a hang-tag for branding but it has details specific to the t-shirt. On my hang-tag it reads:
Okay, we admit that this is the only made up city but how could we resist? This city name and logo go hand in hand. We were going to use Cockeysville, Maryland but that is pronounced much differently. This angry rooster will stop at nothing to get in your way and “Block” any of your moves. Of course we’re talking about football moves, what were you thinking of?
On the bottom left, on the front of the shirt there is a pretty big store logo. And normally I don’t like that kind of thing but for a logo shirt, and these are all logo shirts, I think it’s appropriate. I think it actually adds to the tees for a change. Real teams are all about branding so fake teams should be too.
And hey, if you tuck in your shirt nobody will see the logo. You would probably look like a tool because really, who tucks in their t-shirts these days. OK, I’ll admit that when I was home in Ireland I tucked in my tees but just because it was cold…and I wore sweater over it. Now that I live in the sub-tropical island of Okinawa, there is no need to tuck it in for warmth.
They have a good selection of logos (34 that I can see) and most of them are for real places in the US rather than fictional towns like Cocksville (not sure I’d want to live there). They use the culture or reputation of these places when deciding what to design. So yep, they make pretty cool souvenir tees too.
I like the tees and the brand. It’s a great concept. And while I like their website I think that it could be a little more clear that their main mission is to sell you some cool tees rather than just show you some cool logos. Even on the t-shirt product pages you have to scroll down to see the actual t-shirts.

One other criticism about the website is that some of the images are distorted. That kind of thing bothers me. I love the theme, they just need to be simpler and tidier.
