RACCOON BRAND is a t-shirt and apparel store created by Jesse Barack. The brand, appropriately, revolves around a raccoon.

Raccoon Brand is a premium streetwear clothing line offering graphic tees, tank tops and sweatshirts focused on night adventures and mischief.

Two white t-shirts arrived a while back from Raccoon Brand and I am just getting to them now. Sorry for the delay guys.

RACCOON BRAND T-Shirt Review

The two t-shirts are large white standard American Apparel tees. I like American Apparel as much as the next person, maybe even a little more so you have zero complaints from me there. I wear a medium so some of my friends will be very happy. The stitching is impeccable and, according to the tag, the shirts were sewn by 11 people in a sweatshop-free environment in downtown LA. (Yep, the American Apparel tags are still attached. I like that.) Both tees include comic book style scenes of raccoons getting up to mischief. In one, Heist, four raccoons ripped off some beer and food from a corner grocery store and the owner is pretty miffed.

Heist is a four-color print with black and three muted blues. It’s a fun design with a lot going on and if you love raccoons it’s a bonus. Being from Ireland I don’t know much about raccoons. The other tee, Midnight Mischief, shows the crazy raccoons up to no good again. This time they are pranking/vandalizing a police car with eggs and toilet paper. It’s a five color print but is less color-intensive than Heist. I like the abundance of white space in the design of Midnight Mischief but Heist is just more fun. They say they use a waterbased full color print for a “no touch” feel and it is true. You cannot feel where the ink starts and stops. I love that because I am one of those people who can’t stop fiddling with the different textures on my clothes. I find the existence of heavy ink very distracting.

Branding

There is no real branding on the clothing apart from the American Apparel tags. But, these two tees feature raccoons and it is Raccoon Brand so there is a subtle branding I guess. That’s the best kind. There was also a sticker with an image of a raccoon on the white envelope the tee arrived in.

Website

The website is very clean and easy to navigate. It also has a modern and responsive design. Yes, it’s good on a mobile device. The site puts emphasis on their blog and there are some interesting interviews. Be sure to check them out.

Selection

They have disappointingly few items in the store. From what I could see there are only four different designs available on 18 products. Sometimes the only difference between the products is the color. And apart from one red and one blue tank top the colors are restricted to black, white and gray. Two of the designs are basically logo tees. But I do like the smoking raccoon design. Not that I condone smoking…

Pricing

$30 for tees and tanks, $50 for sweaters and $60 for hoodies. I think the tees/tanks are priced a little high but the sweaters/hoodies are about right.

Wrap-up

The t-shirts are great even if they are not something I would want to wear. It’s not often I prefer a company’s logo tees to their graphic tees but in this case I do. Probably because they have less going on. Simple is often better. I think they really need to expand their lineup and add some color to their store. I often hear people say that they have enough black and white t-shirts so Raccoon Brand is really limiting their customer base with the lack of selection.
