It’s not even three months since my last review of nopooh tees. You might remember that the last tee that they sent over was a simple grey number featuring a motorbike. I praised nopooh for the simplicity of their designs and the classic look of the tees. I thought they had a nice little niche and they do, or did. I did wonder about their future a little bit though as it was just that. A niche. And a small one. Sure some brands can be very successful by sticking to their niche but it’s tough.

nopooh have also been considering the issue it seems to as their new line is a break from their old style. They have jumped from classic designs that are reminiscent of retro automobile promotional material or aviation company gear to designs inspired by comic books from the 1930s and 40s. They are a celebration of superheros from this era with characters from pre-World War II re-purposed for these t-shirts. The tees, as you can see, are awesome.

On top of that nopooh have told told Rude Retro that the next tees in the series will have a Hawaiian Surf Shirt from the 1960s theme. Sounds awesome already.

The first tee is on a silver American Apparel and the yellow/green and muted blue of the design really help with the retro vibe that runs not only through this new series of tees but the whole nopooh collection. nopooh also like to add a second print to give the tee a more polished professional feel. This one is on the sleeve and don’t worry, it’s not the nopooh logo.

The second tee is from the JETS collection which not only features a plane on the chest but some popular British iconography. This is a nice tee but a little too easy. I don’t really like the arm print on this one either, it is like they felt that they had to put something there but didn’t know what and out of desperation through this generic looking spaceship on the arm. ( I know, it’s probably not a spaceship but that’s what it looks like to me.)
