That’s just a banner I robbed from the Tiger and Elephant website. It was an arbitrary choice and arbitrary is what the the name appears to be as well as the designs on the tees that are sold on the website. Here is a quote that says a lot more than I can (maybe not):
The two brothers from Zurich, lets call them “Tiger” and “Elephant”, started screenprinting in 2009. They set up a working space in their cellar and started printing t-shirts with homemade wooden screens. Wearing their own designs was their main goal and their biggest joy. They thought, why not share this joy with others?
To be honest I don’t know what to make of this brand. If they didn’t send a tee over I wouldn’t be talking about their line. There is not one tee in their line (admittedly small) that I would think to buy for myself or as a gift. There seem to be only five on sale at the moment with another half dozen or so displayed despite being out of stock. OK, so we have established that they are not exactly my cup of tee. Does that mean they are poor tees? In this case anyway, it doesn’t. I think there is a market for tees with these far out designs and it is just up to the brothers to find it. I think there are plenty of people who would shun the type of tee that I typically like or review and people who would actively seek out something like what Tiger and Elephant offer.
The tee that they sent over is white and has what looks like a hand-drawn image of a tiger/elephant hybrid. It is quite clever and totally weird. Of course they do call themselves Tiger and Elephant so … Anyway, while I am not a completely won over by the design I do think it is the best one from their store and the placement of the image is perfect. I think people may buy this for the weirdness.
Tiger and Elephant are based in Switzerland but the webstore is in English so never fear. The prices are in Swiss Francs though (40 SF is about US$45).
