I thought that it was quite appropriate for Threadless to announce their new themed contest: Threadless Loves Weird on the day when the release a few tees that could easily be described as weird. It’s like a big “I told you so!”.

This is the description:

Submit a design that the Threadless community has never seen the likes of before. Something from the back of your brain that you thought was just too “different” to put up for scoring.

No food with faces. No skulls and roses. No Star Wars mashups. No Super Mario parodies. Avoid anything that you think is a typical Threadless design.

These are the prizes:

• $2000 cash
• $500 Threadless gift certificate (can be redeemed for $200 cash)
• Bathroom Book of Cat Trivia
• Air Swimmers remote control inflatable flying shark
• Video of members of the Threadstaff sitting in a circle brushing each other’s hair

The last one is a particularly attractive prize but who wouldn’t love a remote control inflatable shark?

 Weird tees? Look down.

So we have a wolf pizza that was designed by Duke Aber for Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie, a polar bear eating an eskimo shaped popsicle, a spaceship taking off from Myanmar, a cat that worships Satan by licking itself, a comic book parody that is so normal as to be weird, to people walking into space on a giant platform and skull with flowers and a butterfly. Well, that last one is not too weird and it’s kind of awesome.

You have to admit thought that there is definitely some weirdness going on and it looks like they want to take it even further so why don’t you submit something?
